For this website the real key was enabling customers to engage via social media and to create a place where pipe smokers could discuss their hobby. Due in part to the way in which smoking in public is becoming less tolerated but also due to the banning of advertising through so many traditional channels the internet and especially social meda was an avenue our clients were very keen to utilise.
This was a really quick HTML website that needed some integration with third-party systems to allow the site owner (a freelance designer I work with occasionally) to be able to make changes to the site and accept feedback. Building Martel Maides a new website was a fairly large undertaking and involved a website build, plenty of custom functionality as well as a complex integration project with their existing back-end system. The website look and feel was provided by a third-party designer and my task was to build the entire site from the ground up including some elements of design, but mostly a large amount of HTML and back-end code which in this case was Ruby.
This wordpress site uses a highly integrated design, that allows for the company to add or modify their services and for the information to filter right through the site. This included an accordion menu and javascript fading banners, all aimed at letting the company promote their services to the best of their ability.
Fairmoves was a website for a startup estate agent in Guernsey, the project gave me the chance to write a Ruby on Rails application and involved a really slick integrated design. Quantum has set the global standard for innovative yacht technology. In 1999, Quantum invented and implemented the first successful dual-purpose roll stabilization system, trademarked as ZeroSpeed. This website build was a wordpress site built to a design put together by our in-house designer and included javascript fading images and popup windows for video, for which we used flowplayer.
This project was to provide a simple to use wordpress site that conveyed the ambiance of Le Petit Bistro Guernsey to both customers and potential staff. The site was put together using several custom wordpress templates that included plenty of embedded video, graphics and even an mp3 sound track.
Find was a joint venture between myself and two collegues that intends to satisfy a niche in the Guernsey market. Many websites exist throughout the UK that offer used cars, estate agents and property etc. but with Guernsey having difficult import/export issues as well as being isoldated from the point of view of commuting – a customer from Guernsey has very little use of UK wide searches.
I recently built a version of the Z-Card website designed for people arriving to the site on a mobile phone or other small screen interface.
